Where qualitycomes first.

JFK Electric is an innovative leader in commercial, institutional, medical and industrial electrical contracting and engineering. Scroll: the building energises one link at a time — electrical room, feeders, ladder rack, PDUs, server rooms, lighting.

01 — The electrical room

Everything starts at the service.

Utility termination, switchboard line-up, transformer, ATS and battery energy storage, set on housekeeping pads with the ground grid tied in. We set the gear, pull and terminate the feeders, torque to spec and record it — the room is where a commercial project is won or lost.

02 — Feeders & risers

Out of the room, into the building.

Feeder conduit banks and busway leave the room through firestopped, labelled wall penetrations and climb to the ceiling space where the distribution spine begins.

03 — Ladder rack & cable tray

The spine overhead.

Large-scale ladder rack and cable tray on trapeze hangers carries power and low voltage the length of the building — bonded, fill-documented, and routed off the coordination model so the other trades still have their ceiling.

04 — PDUs & panelboards

Where the load is handed over.

Busway tap-offs, PDUs and branch panelboards land power at the floor they serve — each one tied back through the spine to the room that feeds it.

05 — Server rooms & critical load

Racks, redundancy, no downtime.

Rack rows fed from dual PDUs, whip drops landed at the cabinet, live cutovers written as method statements before anyone opens a door. Critical environments delivered under specific timelines.

06 — Lighting, controls & EV

The last link.

Fixture packages, networked lighting controls and EV charging infrastructure finish the chain — commissioned, labelled and turned over with the documentation, right out to the data center building and its standby generator on the site.

A bit of JFK history

The showpiece in the JFK lobby.

In the late summer of 1993, JFK was hired by the property manager of Lois Grunow Memorial Medical Center at 926 East McDowell Road in Phoenix, and teamed up with Lutz Engineering on a design-build option to replace the existing electrical system. The study found the original service had been installed in the early 1930s, with a 1960s upgrade back-feeding the old service section. As the drawings were prepared for City approval, JFK also learned the building's own strange history — the Grunow clinic was where Winnie Ruth Judd worked before the case the media called the “Trunk Murders.”

JFK kept the building in operation while bringing the new system up. John Krecek, a history buff, thought the original service section was unique and asked to take it off their hands. It sat in his storage yard for years until JFK's current Gilbert office was built; his son Brandon, then fourteen, helped dismantle, refinish and reassemble it. It now stands as the backdrop of the lobby entrance — with low-voltage controls JFK installed that switch the lobby lighting.

Community

Giving back.

While serving as a Director on the Arizona Builders Alliance Board, John Krecek proposed a Phoenix Chapter volunteer day and chose Broadway Recreation Center in Mesa, home to Arizona Disabled Sports. McCarthy Construction spear-headed the HVAC renovation — two swamp coolers replaced with a chiller air conditioning system — and the project grew as more ABA companies joined: the center was completely painted, the terrazzo shower floors refreshed and made handicap accessible, and the ABA presented Arizona Disabled Sports with a $35,000 check for program equipment. John and Debra Krecek have volunteered with AzDS for many years.

Careers at JFK Electric

Make every day a great day.

The construction industry will not grow and expand without the influx of young workers who are interested in and dedicated to the field. JFK is actively involved in many education programs designed not only to improve the reputation and quality of construction but to draw young people into our ranks — and JFK reimburses all employees for job-related skills classes.
